A 70-year-old man died after consuming chang’aa last night.
Ngare Odongo from Nyaibasa village allegedly spent the whole day yesterday in the brewer’s homestead at the next Geteni village. The deceased was allegedly taking busaa, kangara and chang’aa and at midnight when he got up to leave, he fell died instantly.
Angry villagers surrounded the homestead of Tebo Ong’ombe insisting he explain what happened for the people drinking with Odongo before died said he was fine.
Villagers blamed the incident on the laxity of police tackling brewing cartels who conspire with them to do their business as they are given money on a weekly basis.
The late Odongo is the father to the immediate former chief of Gachuba location before he was nominated as the Gachuba Ward administrator.
Area acting chief Tom Nyariacho promised to assist the police get the brewer who had gone into hiding and checking the samples of what was believed to be poisoned liquor.
