Eldoret West OCPD Mr Smollett Munyianzi has warned illicit brewers who have resorted to making the illegal alcohol of dire consequences.

Speaking to journalists in his office on Monday, the OCPD said that illicit brewers will not be tolerated in the area.

Munyianzi noted that some people could have resorted back to making and selling of illegal brews.

“It has come to our attention that some people could have resorted back to making illegal brews. We are telling them to quit the illegal business before we pounce on them,” he said.

The Eldoret West OCPD said police will conduct raids on people they suspect could be making the brews.

He asked residents to cooperate with the police and supply information that will help nab illicit brewers and sellers.

The OCPD also appealed to local leaders to ensure that their areas are free of illicit brews.

He also warned chiefs and assistants who could be colluding with brewers saying that they will be arrested and charged.

“We are not going to relent on the fight against illicit brew and second hand generation alcohol,” he said.

Speaking to journalists in his office over the weekend, Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan directed officials of the County Alcoholic and Licensing Board to conduct inspections on all licensed bars.

He said the crackdown on illegal alcoholic brewers and sellers will not stop any time soon.
