Nyamira County Commissioner Joseph Rotich has said illicit brewing dens are being used as hideouts and planning places for robberies.Rotich said he is working closely with his officers to ensure the brewers are sent out of the business. During an interview with this reporter, the county commissioner said his officers especially in Manga sub-county, have cleared 99 per cent of the brewing dens despite facing challenges because the area lies on Kisii-Nyamira border."It became a challenge because once we cleared the brews from our side, they would bring them back from the neighbouring county hence making it hard for us to move but after close collaboration with our Kisii colleagues we have gone up to 99 per cent," said Rotich. The security county boss added that Bokeira ward and the surrounding areas are their priority and will soon erect a police post at Kebobora to boost security and fight illicit brews."I thank the community and the North Mugirango MP (Charles Geni) for assisting us to get a place for our officers and this means security and the war on illicit brewers are guaranteed," added Rotich.
