Mention Illuminati and what registers on people’s faces is a shock, hushed tones and probably desertion. But, what is it about The Illuminati that shell-shocks so many people? Well, for starters, Illuminati is a name given to several groups, both real and fictitious according to Wikipedia. It is lightly translated to mean "enlightened" but historically the name usually refers to the Bavarian Illuminati. This, according to Wikipedia, was an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on 1 May 1776.The Illuminati's goals were to ‘oppose superstition, obscurantism, religious influence over public life and abuses of state power. In "The order of the day," they wrote in their general statutes that it "is to put an end to the machinations of the purveyors of injustice and to control them without dominating them".The Illuminati and other secret societies among them Freemasonry were outlawed by Charles Theodore, the Bavarian ruler, through an edict in 1784, 1785, 1787 and 1790.For several years, the society was vilified by conservative and religious critics who claimed that they continued underground and were responsible for the French Revolution. In Kenya, the society is associated with fast-gained riches and oft-accompanied human sacrifice of loved ones. Many theories posit that the world is being controlled and manipulated by the secret society which includes influential personalities like presidents, musicians and other wealthy personalities. But for Kenya, the jury is still out and whatever is known is discussed in low tones or buried in a grave of forgetfulness.
