Deputy President William Ruto has said the Coast region will be one of the major contributors in the Jubilee’s fight to retain power during the next general election.

Speaking in Kaloleni, Ruto said he has no doubt that Jubilee enjoys massive support in the region as per the outcome of the voter registration exercise.

"I'm confident Jubilee will win in the August election and Coast region will largely vote for the party. The registration of voters clearly shows Jubilee has more support countrywide," said Ruto, as quoted by the Star.

The DP toured the region to welcome Kahindi Ngao, who is a brother to Kilifi Speaker Jimmy Kahindi to Jubilee after he opted to part ways with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.

Ngao has declared interest in the Kaloleni parliamentary seat which is currently held by Kadu Asili's Gunga Mwinga.

Kilifi MP Gideon Munga’ro, who had accompanied Ruto, hit out at opposition leaders saying they don't have new ideas to change the lives of the common mwananchi as they seek to rise to power in August.

"Cord leaders have nothing to show for the time they were in government. There is nothing new they will offer," said Mung'aro.
