True to his statement, many have found where their hearts lie, and to them, regret is a past vocabulary. 

Meet the ambitious 24-year-old Mary Muthoni, a female barber from Barnabas estate. 

During an interview with this writer on Friday, Muthoni shared her life story and what made her venture into the barber industry.

"After I completed my diploma in Community Development at Egerton Town Campus last year, I started looking for a job which was not forthcoming. I ended up in desparation and that is when I thought of trying something different," she said.

The calm and collected lassie says she decided to open a barber shop in the area with the help of her elder brother.

"My elder brother gave me a loan of Sh6,000 which I used to buy the shaving machine and other equipment needed. The shop you see here used to be my mother's grocery and since she no longer uses it, she decided to bless me with it," said Muthoni.

She said the barber shop is three months old and that the income is enough for her needs.

"It is better than being idle, I make enough money for my daily needs," she said.

Muthoni advises other youths to take the available opportunity that comes their way to create jobs.

"If you sit there waiting for white collar jobs, it might take you a while. Start with what you have," she advised
