Garissa governor Hon Nathif Jama has reiterated that he was still firm in the opposition CORD coalition, saying he will be defending his gubernatorial seat on a Wiper ticket in the coming general election.
Addressing the press just after attending the Idd-ul-Adha prayers at the Rtd general Mohamud Idd prayer grounds, Nathif evidently distanced himself from the social media posts which had circulated wildly during the week alleging that he had joined the ranks of Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya and his Marsabit counterpart Ukur Yataani in ditching CORD for Jubilee.
There has been speculation on twitter and Facebook accounts that the Garissa Governor was ditching the Wiper party, a partner in the CORD coalition that propelled him to the governorship seat in 2013 polls and joined the recently launched Jubilee party.
“This twitter account that has been doing rounds in the social media is not true. I am firmly in Wiper and that is the party I will be defending my seat on,” he said.
Nathif claimed his political detractors were the ones behind the tweets that he said were meant to confuse his supporters.
“I want to reassure my supporters that I am not one of those politicians who hop from one party to another because they have no clearly defined agenda for their people,” he said.
