Bishop David Ngari alias Gakuyo of Calvary Chosen Centre has dismissed reports that he defrauded Kenyans through his real estate company and a Savings and Credit Co-operative Organisation (Sacco).
In an exposè by KTN on Monday, the bishop allegedly used his real estate company Gakuyo Real Estate Company and Ekeza Sacco to defraud Kenyans money running into millions.
But in a statement on Thursday, Gakuyo accused his political detractors of witch hunt after he declared interest in the Kiambu governorship seat.
"There are people who are working tirelessly to paint me as a criminal in order to bring my church and businesses down," he said.
"I am a man of God who fears and follows His teachings. I have not stolen anything. My hands are clean. I'm the manager of Gakuyo Real Estate and Ekeza Sacco and the rumours going round are nothing but a plot to finish me," he added.
He has since bowed out of the Kiambu gubernatorial race, to support Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu who is seeking to unseat the incumbent governor William Kabogo.
