Speaking to the press at his office, Malombe said that he has the support of his people.

“The majority of Kitui people are behind me and my competitors will realise at the polls that I am not a push over. They will be badly rejected by the voters,” the governor said, as quoted by the Star.

The incumbent also said that it is wise for the two leaders to consider retiring from active politics before the voters shame them at the ballot box in August.

“My advice to Ngilu and Musila is for them to retire from politcs honourably, lest the people of Kitui force them to retire at the polls,” Malombe added.

According to Malombe, if the residents of this region base on performance scoreboard then he deserves another term. The outspoken leaders informed the press that he has initiated several projects in the region to improve the welfare of his people as he seeks to retain his seat.

Malombe is among the governors who will have a hard time defending his seat considering the competitors in the race.
