Mathare Member of Parliament Stephen Kariuki has said that he is not afraid of a by-election in case he is expelled from the ODM party.
The MP said he is ready for any eventuality and is confident to defend his seat on a Jubilee ticket.
“I am totally not afraid of going to a by-election and if it gets to that, I am willing to stand by Jubilee and defend my seat on a Jubilee ticket,” Kariuki said.
He was speaking in Nairobi after the ODM disciplinary committee recommended disciplinary action on 13 MPs and governors who have decamped to Jubilee.
Kariuki further said that ODM policies and other differences forced him out since he could no longer bear with them.
“I left ODM because of the policies of the party and some differences within. As long as you are an independent thinker in ODM then you have no room. As long as you are not a sycophant, or you don’t do things in a certain way that is preferred by the party’s leadership you still have no room," he said.
"We had differences during my nomination and even had to use other parties to negotiate on my behalf after my win was nullified,” Kariuki added.
