Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has rubbished claims that he is afraid of battling Wiper party governor hopeful Wavinya Ndeti in the August 8 polls.
Speaking on NTV’s AM Live show on Thursday, Mutua said that Wavinya has no numbers to unseat him.
The governor further said that Wavinya Ndeti will not offer any better leadership to Machakos people.
Mutua claimed that Wavinya is part of the Kamba leaders who have served in government for many years but done nothing to better local’s lives.
“Wavinya Ndeti belongs to the group of Kamba politicians who despite serving in government for decades they did nothing for the people,” he said.
Governor Mutua said Ndeti and others seeking his seat have no agenda for the people.
Mutua said that he will not focus on what rivals say and do saying that his agenda is to continue delivering services to the people in the remaining months to the August 8 general election.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party leader urged locals to endorse his re-election promising to initiate more development projects.
Mutua said that his administration has delivered on the pledges it made to the locals in 2013 and deserves re-election.
Governor Mutua is facing stiff competition from Wavinya Ndeti, deputy governor Bernard Kiala and Lemmy Muia.
Kiala is contesting as an independent candidate will Muia is running on Jubilee Party ticket.
