National Assembly deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso has rebuffed claims that she is being pushed by Deputy President William Ruto to contest for the BometCounty governorship in 2017.
Speaking Tuesday during a breakfast show on Radio Jambo, the Sotik MP denied claims that she was being used by the DP to dislodge the incumbent, Governor Isaac Ruto, a fierce critic of the DP.
"I'm not being pushed by the Deputy President. My quest to contest for the gubernatorial seat is motivated by my desire to bring development closer to the electorate. The incumbent is busy politicking at the expense of promoting service delivery," she said.
She added that her stint as the Sotik MP for two terms and her current position as the National Assembly's second in command had equipped her with necessary skills to succeed at the county helm.
