Speaking at a funeral ceremony in Machakos town on Saturday, Kenyatta said he is ready to retire hence not interested in 2022 politics.

Kenyatta said his main concern now is delivering his promises to Kenyans arguing he might be answerable to them after his five year term elapses.

“Time for politics is over, it's time to work for Kenyans. Those interested in politics should count me out," Kenyatta said.

The President's sentiments were echoed by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who promised to work closely with the State for the locals' best interests.

Mutua said he is still on the race for Presidency in 2022.

“It will be me and them in 2022, but for now lets be of service to people who saw us fit for our positions," Mutua said.
