Muthama said he is not interested in replacing Alfred Mutua as the Machakos governor.

He said he has all the qualifications to vie for the position though.

"There are rumors that I'm vying for the gubernatorial seat. No, I'm not. I have what it takes to vie for the seat but I'm not interested," Muthama said.

Muthama spoke at AIC Bomani Church in Machakos town on Sunday.

He said he will just watch as things unfold in Machakos county for the time being.

" I'm just watching and advising the leaders in a bid to bring the Kamba community together, we can't afford to have the community divided," Muthama added.

Muthama criticized Mutua's leadership stating that the governor has no good intentions for Machakos County.

He said Machakos people will regret not listening to him about not electing governor Mutua.

"Mutua isn't part of Machakos people, he doesn't have the interests of Machakos people at heart, and years to come Machakos people will say they wish they knew," he concluded.

He said Machakos needs new leadership by a person who's ready to transform the county in a good way.
