Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's advisor Idris Abdirahman has rubbished claims of involvement in drug trafficking and terrorism.
This comes after a post on twitter claimed that Abdirahman had been dismissed from the Kenya Defence Forces after being linked to an international network engaging in the illegal activities.
According to the post, Abdirahman was put on the police watch list after Interpol issued a warrant for his arrest as well as a Sh1 million bounty, reports that have been dismissed by the policing agency.
Abdirahman, however, on Wednesday rubbished the reports terming them as mere propaganda perpetuated by Jubilee bloggers in a bid to tarnish Joho's image.
"Certain individuals and groups affiliated with Jubilee Party have resorted to ill-advised and poorly executed strategies on social media, designed to malign my good name," read his Facebook post in part.
"We will neither be cowed nor intimidated by such schemes. We have only been inspired to work harder and make sure the Coast region is impenetrable to Jubilee," he added.
According to The Star, Abdirahman has been serving as Joho's bodyguard ever since the governor rejected the security officers assigned to him by the government. The outspoken governor has been at logger heads with Uhuru Kenyatta's administration, with a section of Jubilee leaders accusing of engaging in drug trafficking, claims that Joho has since denied.
