Machakos county Deputy governor Bernard Kiala has refuted claims that his much-hyped #UgatuziNaKiala event is meant to launch his Machakos county gubernatorial bid.
In a Facebook post published on his official page on Thursday, Kiala insisted that the event is meant to sensitize and educate the general public matters devolution.
"I need to do some clarification in regard to the launch of #UgatuziNaKiala. We are not launching my bid for the Machakos gubernatorial seat 2017," the post read in part.
"#UgatuziNaKiala is a civic education program meant to enlighten the residents of Machakos on matters devolution. In my current position as the Deputy Governor, I have noted that one of the main challenges of rolling out devolution , is the lack of information on the part of the citizenry," Kiala clarified.
The Deputy Governor, however, revealed that he would launch his gubernatorial bid in a later date that his office would communicate.
"The launch of my gubernatorial bid will be big and at the appropriate time and at the County Headquarters, Machakos," he said.
