National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga has hit out at his critics for accusing him that he was bent on only opposing the Jubilee administration development projects without giving valid reasons.

Raila dismissed the allegations by Jubilee top leaders saying he does not oppose government projects without proper reasons.

“It is not true that I am opposing development projects without giving valid reasons as it is being peddled by my political detractors in the government. I do so after consulting experts and weighing merits and demerits of such projects," Raila said as quoted by the People Daily.

The former Premier added: "I want to state here categorically that any leader who opposes development projects that benefit people on flimsy or political reasons is a mad man or woman."

He said he was opposed to the construction of Sh34 billion Itare Water Dam project after meeting and consulting experts.

"I have not politicised the project as Jubilee leaders have been saying to win the Kipsigis vote but was informed by the environmental concerns raised by the Kipsigis Council of Elders," he added.

Raila was speaking during the funeral service of former Nyanza Provincial Commissioner Isaiah Cheluget at Kusumek village in Bureti sub-county, Kericho county on Wednesday.
