Lamu governor Issa Timamy has exuded optimism that he will be reelected during the forthcoming general elections.
Timamy is facing stiff competition from Jubilee Party's Fahim Twaha, Abdala Fadhil of ODM and Wiper's Swaleh Salim Imu.
The County Chief will be seeking to recapture his seat on the Amani National Congress Party ticket.
In an interview with the Daily Nation earlier in the week, Timamy maintained that he is the right man for the job, adding that area residents still have faith in his leadership.
“I am not scared. I have done a lot for this county and that is why my people have decided to stand with me,” he observed.
"I have ensured that residents get some of the best medical services in the country by rehabilitating dispensaries, constructing health centres and upgrading key hospitals, including Mpeketoni and Faza to level four status. King Fahad is now a level five hospital," he added.
He further branded Fadhil and Salim Jubilee Party's protégés and spoilers out to divide the opposition vote in the Coastal County.
