Meru Governor Peter Munya has rubbished claims by his rivals that he is allegedly spying for the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Munya says that speculations being fueled by some politicians that he is working with NASA leaders to help the opposition get some votes in Mt Kenya are false.

The Meru governor says that he is not in NASA adding that he supports President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid.

“I want to make it clear that I am not working with NASA leader Raila Odinga as being claimed by some of my rivals,” he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.

Munya said that his rivals are out to tarnish his image ahead of the August 8 polls.

The Meru governor stated that he will not fall to false speculations accusing rivals of engaging in propaganda campaigns.

“Let my rivals know that I will not fall to their dirty political tricks,” he said.

Munya warned locals against associating with propagandists saying their main idea is to malign his name.

Governor Munya is seeking re-election on Party of National Unity (PNU).

Munya refused to merge PNU with Jubilee last year saying that his party will field aspirants in all seats but not the presidential seat in the August 8 general election.

He said that the party fully supports Uhuru’s re-election.

The Meru governor is facing stiff competition from Senator Kiraitu Murungi who has vowed to send him packing.

Munya and Murungi are not been seeing eye to eye and have been engaging in public spats since being elected in 2013.

Dr Kilemi Mwiria is also eyeing to unseat Munya on a Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party ticket.

Meru gubernatorial race will be among those to watch for in the August 8 general election with analysts predicting a massive win for Munya.
