Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta over what he terms as derogatory remarks made during his two-day tour in Central region.
The opposition leader urged the President to be polite and respectful to him and not talk to him as he would his child.
“Ati sasa anasomea Raila; mimi si mtoto wake. Ongea kwa njia ya utaratibu (He is now dressing down Raila; I’m not his child. Talk in a polite manner),” said Raila on Tuesday.
The former Prime Minister was reacting to remarks by the Head of State, who on Monday said Raila had run out of ideas and should, therefore, retire from active politics.
“Maybe it is his age, and that is why we are asking him to retire now that he is an old man,” the President said while in Nyeri County.
Raila said he was not too old to lead the country, adding that he is the best suited to liberate Kenya from tribalism, corruption and address historical injustices.
Speaking after meeting a delegate of Maasai leaders at Orange House in Nairobi, Raila said that the insulting remarks by President Kenyatta cannot solve the ills facing Kenyans.
“Jubilee does not have a solution for Kenyans and that is why they have resorted to insults and derogatory language, ” he said.
