While addressing ODM members from the Maasai community on Tuesday in Nairobi, Raila said the President should not talk to him as if he was his child, adding that only Kenyans would determine the time he would retire and not his rivals.

“Ati sasa anasomea Raila; mimi si mtoto wake. Ongea kwa njia ya utaratibu." (He is now deriding Raila; I’m not his child. Talk in a polite manner),” Raila said.

Uhuru said on Monday that the former Prime Minister had run out of ideas and should, therefore quit politics, accusing him of obstructing the government by faulting its developmental projects.

“Maybe it is his age, and that is why we are asking him to retire now that he is an old man,” the President said while on a tour of Nyeri County.

“Occasionally, I’ll bring him a bowl of uji (porridge) in Bondo if he quits.”

Yesterday, Raila said Uhuru’s insinuation that former President Mwai Kibaki offered him a job as a prime minister was misplaced.

“Kibaki did not give me a job; I won the election,” said Raila.
