Raila said he will not engage with Duale since he is not his agemate.

“Mimi sio rika ya Duale. Siwezi kujibu hayo maneno yake ya upuzi na ujinga mtupu (I am not Duale’s age-mate. I cannot respond to his remarks since they are nonsensical and stupid),” said Raila as quoted by Citizen Digital.

Raila was responding to claims by Duale that he’s on the payroll of Cord-led counties.

Duale said Wednesday the governors pay for the former Prime Minister’s trips --both foreign and local--, his accommodation and pocket money.

But on Thursday, Raila said Duale was engaging in petty politics and thus cannot engage with him.

Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi who was among MPs who accompanied Raila during the news briefing at Capitol Hill said Duale's remarks were meant to divert attention on corruption talk.

“Whenever Raila raises serious corruption issues, State House hatchet men and women led by Duale are sent to divert attention,” said Wandayi.
