Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has said that she is ready for a political battle with former Devolution Cabinet Secretary (CS) Anne Waiguru in her quest for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in August.

Karua says that she is not afraid of Waiguru, exuding confidence she will trounce her in the August 8 election.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the Party National Delegates Conference (NDC) at St Andrews Auditorium in Nairobi on Saturday, Karua said that her political experience will enable her to trounce Waiguru in August.

The former Gichugu MP said she has the numbers to clinch the Kirinyaga top seat dismissing political experts’ opinion rating Waiguru as the favourite to win the seat.

“People should not be blinded by political expert opinions that are often misleading,” she said as quoted by the standard.

Karua said that her agenda will be to transform Kirinyaga’s economic development if elected.

She claimed that Kirinyaga is among the poorest counties despite receiving huge funding from the national government.

Karua also pledged to promote the interests of women, youth and Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD) if elected.

The former Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister also pledged to implement policies that will create employment for young people and establish a conducive environment for local and foreign investment.

Karua will be battling it out with Waiguru for the Kirinyaga top seat.

Waiguru clinched the Jubilee Party ticket in the nominations flooring incumbent Joseph Ndathi and others.

The former CS now says that she is the right person to lead Kirinyaga promising to fight for the interests of locals.

The battle for Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat will be among those to watch in the August polls with political analysts predicting a massive win for Waiguru.
