Ekumbo, who is the National Olympics Organising Committee vice chairman, told Senior Principal Magistrate Joyce Gandani on Friday that the money was deposited into his bank account without his knowledge.

The Nock boss was arrested on Monday during a raid on his house in Nairobi, where bales of Nike kits and equipment were found.

He is facing charges related to the mismanagement of Team Kenya in Brazil and stealing the sports kits that were meant for Kenyan athletes during the Olympics.

Ekumbo will spend the weekend behind bars after denying the two charges.

The court will rule on Monday whether he will be released on bail.
