Health and Water Foundation executive director Evans Misati has refuted claims that he has shelved his aspirations for Nyamira County governor in the 2017 general election.
Speaking to the press on Monday at a Kisii hotel, Misati asserted that he was still keen to contest for the county top job, and that his commitment to deliver key infrastructural facilities and services to the people of Nyamira still stands if elected.
"There are reports doing rounds that I have backed down from the Nyamira County gubernatorial race. I wish to dispell such rumours and be categorical that I am still in the race," he said.
“I am the best candidate eyeing the gubernatorial seat and the most qualified person to steer the affairs of the county,” he added.
Misati vied for the same seat in the 2013 polls but lost to the incumbent Governor John Nyagarama.
Misati is also the chairman of the Progressive Party of Kenya which is led by the Vihiga County Governor Moses Akaranga.
