Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has yet again called on his co-principals Raila Odinga and Moses Wetangula to give him the chance to take on the Jubilee administration as Cord’s presidential flag bearer.
Speaking in Machakos where he was on a voter sensitization rally, Kalonzo said he was better placed to fly the coalition’s flag.
Voter sensitization exercise has been revamped, with most of the top candidates retreating to their backyards to ensure locals register as voters.
“Raila na Wetangula wazi wazi, watoke njiani Jubilee iende nyumbani. (Raila and Wetangula should pave way for me, and we will send Jubilee home,” said Musyoka in Machakos.
The choice of the opposition’s flag bearer has been a thorny talk within the Cord circles, with the opposition yet to decide on who will be in the ballot in the August polls.
The leaders have further maintained that the mode of picking who will be their flag bearer is still subject to discussion.
During an opposition meeting at the Bomas of Kenya this month, Cord had said it will name its flag bearer in May.
Kalonzo further told the locals that his dream to lead the nation will materialize if they register in large numbers.
“Nia yangu ni kuunganisha Kenya, iwe kitu kimoja. Hakutakua na mkikuyu, hakutakua na mkamba, hakutakua na mjaluo (My aim is to unite Kenya, to be one thing. We will not have a Kikuyu, a Luo, or a Kamba,” added Musyoka.
The IEBC is targeting over 6 million voters in the current voter registration drive, which will end in February 16.
