Hospital CEO Dr John Kibosia who commissioned the unit was accompanied by his Deputy Dr Wilson Arwasa and senior staff from the hospital.

Dr Kibosia said that the project will help improve the services offered at the referral hospital and also reduce the cost of expenditure at the hospital since they are forced to outsource MRI services from some private hospitals which is expensive.

"This project is fully funded by the National Government and it will cost Sh 100 million. It will reduce the cost that we have been incurring when outsourcing MRI services," Kibosia said.

Dr Kibosia added that the Sh 1 billion cancer centre is in the final stages of completion.

He said, "The cancer centre is almost ready and there has also been expansion of several other facilities. This will help improve this hospital's services.”

“We will spend Sh 1 billion to equip the hospital with modern facilities and equipment which will make it the second largest public cancer hospital in the country after Kenyatta National Hospital," Dr Kibosia added.

The CEO revealed that in a month’s time, 100 beds for the Shoe4africa Foundation Children’s Hospital situated at the hospital will also be ready.
