According to the department, it was enforcing an order from the Ministry of Interior.

The Director General of Immigration Dr. Gordon Kihalangwa revealed that the department had received an order from Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i to deport Miguna Miguna.

Dr. Kihalangwa further argued that Miguna's citizenship was irregularly reinstated during the coalition government after he had renounced it.

Miguna Miguna has vowed to fight back against his deportation, contending that he has never and will never renounce his citizenship.

He was arrested by the police in an early morning operation over his involvement in Raila Odinga's controversial swearing-in ceremony held at Uhuru Park on January, 30.
