Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has applauded the immigration department for removing people with disability who have been beggars in Eldoret town.
Mandago said some individuals were misusing people with disability as cash cows which is against the law.
“It’s sad that some people, especially from the neighboring country are using people with disability to earn a living and yet the amount they collect does not benefit themselves that’s why I support the immigration department 100 percent,” said governor Mandago in Eldoret town, Friday.
He reiterated that his administration will not allow the disabled to be misused saying he will join hands with the immigration department and those who will be found will face the full force of the law.
Governor Mandago further warned parents hiding children with disabilities.
“I want to sincerely urge parents with children with the disability not to lock them indoors because as county government we have set aside funds to help them,” he said.
The county boss also reaffirmed that his government is committed to ensuring that people with disability are empowered financially to improve their livelihoods.
