There was drama at Kisumu County assembly after Impeached speaker Ann Adul disrupted sessions when she tried to chair reconvention this afternoon.
Adul insisted that she was the speaker and was the one to reconvene the sessions citing that Kisumu county assembly does not have substantial speaker.
“If they impeached me, the assembly ought to have adjourned until they elect a new speaker. The process of electing a new speaker is through diligence. The advert must be done by IEBC to declare the speaker post vacant,” said Adul.
According to Adul, the county assembly had no authority to transact any business until they elect a speaker. She added that the assembly stood adjourned the minute the speaker was impeached.
“What they are doing is against the law, they have no business and am saying it is going to catch up with them when they will be called up to account for the allowances used,” said the impeached speaker.
Adul last week Monday forced her way back to the office by breaking locks after the high court quashed her impeachment.
She accused the assembly members of ignoring the court order by locking her out of the office.
The embattled speaker was impeached last month following the approval of a motion accusing her of gross misconduct including disposing the mace at the local police station.
She was also accused of blocking reports from the public accounts committee and public investment committee investigating allegations of misappropriation of funds in her office.
