Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua says the impeachment motion tabled against him at the Machakos County Assembly 'will go nowhere'.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement party leader noted that majority of MCAs in the County are with him, and dismissed claims that he can be impeached.
Ndalani MCA Stephen Muthuka presented the motion at the County assembly Wednesday, following Speaker Bernard Mung’ata's approval.
46 MCAs signed in-supported of the motion.
Among other reasons, the MCA accuses Dr Mutua of failing to honor procurement laws, launching projects funded by county government and branding them as his Maendeleo Chap Chap movement party projects.
However, Mutua accused his political rivals of propagating the motion, saying he has done a lot for the people of Machakos.
"I am not afraid. I am doing God's work and people are watching. That impeachment motion is going nowhere. majority of the MCAs are with Dr Alfred Nganga Mutua,'' said the Wiper party rebel.
He was speaking at Kitui township Thursday, on his fourth day of the Kitui County political tour.
The motion requires support of at least 40 MCAs for a successful impeachment.
