The Central Bank of Kenya has said that verified depositors at the Imperial Bank Limited (IBL) can now access additional funds of up to a maximum of 10 per cent of their remaining deposits.
In a Wednesday press statement, CBK said the depositors can access the funds through NIC Bank.
“Verified depositors will be able to access additional funds of up to a maximum of 10 per cent of their remaining deposits, subject to a minimum of Ksh.200,000 or the actual deposit amount for balances below Ksh.200, 000,” said CBK.
“Verified depositors will be able to access the funds through NIC Bank as was the case for the second disbursement in July 2016.”
CBK also said the depositors can lodge any new claims through NIC Bank.
The Bank also said that recovery of Imperial Bank loans will continue, and told IBL borrowers to continue making payments on their loans as required.
Imperial Bank was in October 2015 placed under statutory management by CBK over “unsafe and unsound business transactions".
