"We have been able to arrest over four drivers two of whom we withdrew licenses for over speeding, three bodaboda operators that were having expired licenses, not helmet and reflector jackets and two conductors without uniforms. We are emphasizing on better road operations and that prompted us to carry out the crackdown without any notice," said Mwau.

Two drivers were released upon payment of 5000 shillings fine each, one of the conductors and all bodaboda operators were also released.

Mwau stated that the rest would be arraigned in Gatundu court on Friday. Speaking after the arrest, National transport and safety authority area coordinator Antony Karigi said that two vehicles were denied operational licenses.

"We have revoked two vehicle operational licenses and banned two drivers from operating on roads for two years. This is just a start of the measures we are putting in place to ensure total reduction of road-related deaths in the country," said Karigi.

The arrested were taken to Kamwangi police station together with their vehicles awaiting to be arraigned in court.
