Most carpenters and welding artisans have their businesses located at the backstreets, which are not fully developed, opting to request the county government to consider their situation and develop the backstreets for their business to prosper.

They have further accused the county government of collecting tax from them yet they are not developing their areas of business, further saying the local town council has failed to have the proper planning of the town, giving the county a hard time in planning.

The local town council, headed by Andrew Nyaneti (1992), Hunderson Rioba (1997), John Onchiri (2007) has been blamed for not properly planning for the town, throwing it into the chaos that it is now.
