Residents of Bomachoge-Chache in Kisii County have yet again unleashed on the county leadership over alleged poor status of feeder roads especially near Nyabisiongororo trading centre.

Speaking on Wednesday at the trading centre, they accused the James Ongwae-led government of segregation and discrimination besides giving the county government an ultimatum of 60 days to repair all impassable feeder roads in the region.

According to them, the port status of the road had literally rendered various businesses in the region unprofitable since transportation has been a major crisis due to the ongoing rains in the region.

“Sometimes it is difficult to tell why the county has ignored this region completely. The county has 60 days to rectify the situation before we demand so as area residents. Many of our business as running loses because of the poor status of the roads and this is completely unfair,” said Evans Mochiemo.

They asked the county leadership to fulfill its election pledges without necessarily being coerced by locals since the situation may lead to tension in the region.

“As residents, we have been paying taxes and in return, we want to see the government working. Otherwise if nothing is done, the relationship between residents and government may deteriorate,” added James Jomo.

County executive in charge of roads Eng F.N Omwoyo promised expeditiously action and urged residents to calm since the county has certain protocol that must be followed.

“The government works in a very structured manner and that it why it’s important to allow us work. The situation will be rectified soon,” he said.
