Kisumu County clergymen have condemned yesterday’s terrorist attack on Garissa University College by Al Shabaab gunmen.

They termed the attack as inhumane and challenged Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaiserry to hasten security enhancement in the country.

Speaking to the press today at a Kisumu Hotel, the clergy, through their county chairperson Ezekiel Apindi, the 147 lives lost and 79 injuries was a huge loss to the country.

He called for enhanced internal security and university students.

The clergymen challenged both levels of government to secure their borders by deploying more police forces.

They also challenged the hastening of the allocation of funds towards improving the internal security to curb the fear that the locals live in.

“The government should come up with tight security measures like initiating CCTV cameras in public places to curb the insecurity menace in the country,” said Apindi.

Elsewhere speaking to this writer, human rights activist Killen Omondi condemned the vice and challenged the county government to improve the security status in the county.

He noted that insecurity was a threat to locals asking that the governments assure the citizens of their security at all times.
