A man who obtained Sh350,000 from another one after selling his nonexistence parcel of land was on Wednesday arraigned before a Thika court charged with fraud.

The accused Stephen Mwaura appeared before chief magistrate S. Mbugi, charged that on January 2 2013, at Kenol town, Murang'a county, he obtained a sum of Sh350,000 from Esther Muiruri, pretending that he was in a position to sell her a parcel of land at Kaaga village, Makuyu town.

The accused further produced a title deed that has his father's name, Mwaura Mwihia and an agreement they used for the purchase.

The court heard that after purchasing the land, Njambi did a search at the ministry of lands in Thika town and realized that the land owner is Njoki Wanyoike.

Esther later reported the matter to Makuyu police, station where an arrest warrant was issued on Chege.

The accused was later on released on a bond of Sh100,000 with one surerity as investigations are carried out.
