NASA principal Raila Odinga has responded to the proposal of the NCCK about amending the constitution to create a Prime Ministerial position.
The NCCK had argued that the amendments would significantly reduce the tensions that usually follow an election.
Responding to a question from a Voice of America journalist at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies on whether NCCK's proposals had his blessing, Odinga said, ''We are not just looking for jobs as a prime minister. That is a very cheap way of looking at it. We are talking about addressing fundamental issues of governance. That's why we are saying it cannot be a quick fix. No, I don't support NCCK's proposal. It is a cheap way of looking at things.''
The former Prime Minister arrived in the United States of America yesterday for a series of engagements that will involve delivering lectures on the state of democracy in Africa.
