Former Parliament Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim has said Parliament Majority Leader Aden Duale should in jail by now for inciting violence.
Maalim who spoke at the Criminal Investigations Directorate where he had gone to report a case of incitement against Duale said a video clip making rounds on social media is evidence enough to have Duale arrested and prosecuted.
"Duale is a criminal who should not be walking free," he said as quoted by the Star.
"If the Government is serious about taming violence, President Uhuru should instruct the Inspector General of Police to arrest Duale today and he be charged in court."
"He should be committed to jail and it is immoral for him to roam around after inciting people to violence."
A video circulating on social media shows somebody said to be Duale telling youth to evict Kambas and non-Somalis from Garissa.
Maalim is expected to contest for the Garissa Township MP seat currently held by Mr Duale on a Wiper party ticket in August.
"Duale has incited Garissa locals against the Kambas," Maalim said.
"He is heard very clearly in the clip doing rounds on social media asking locals to resent Kambas. Now two people have been injured as we speak. He belongs to jail and should have been arrested."
Duale, however, in an exclusive interview with the Star refuted the claims.
"In my opinion it is concocted propaganda," he said.
