Ahadi Kenya Trust Chairman Stanley Kamau wants the victims of jigger infestations who have recovered to start being included in police recruitments.
Speaking yesterday in Gatuanyaga, Thika during a medical camp, Kamau said it was disappointing to see that many survivors of jigger infestations who have now fully recovered being disqualified in the recent police recruitment.
"We would like jiggers survivors recognized during police, military and NYS recruitment drives. Though their legs may never be back to normal, it is important to know that these people are capable like any other,” said Kamau.
Kamau has said that in the next recruitment the recovered jiggers victims must be recognized as there are many things they are capable of doing in the security forces.
"Nobody would wish to be attacked by jiggers and therefore no one should be disqualified on those grounds,” added Kamau.
The anti-jiggers ambassador noted that other people with disabilities should also be given a chance in the forces to serve in various capacities saying they are capable of delivering on their duties as disability is not inability.
