A section of women from Gesima ward In Kitutu Masaba have urged Nyamira woman representative Alice Chae to include them in women empowerment projects.
The women claimed they have never been included in the various programmes initiated by the woman rep.
Led by Grace Osiemo, they claimed that Mrs Chae has been concentrating in areas like Kebirigo, Ekerenyo and Tombe forgetting that there are some residents who need help from Gesima area.
“We need her to initiate projects which can help improve our lives since county women reps have been allocated funds, ( Affirmative Action Social Development Fund), for such courses. Unfortunately we have never benefitted,,” she said in Gesima.
She added that they want Chae to visit the area just as has been the case for other regions in the county.
“Let our leaders understand that devolution means that helping people in all areas, we are tired of people coming to us during election period and once they assume office, they forget about us,” added Helen Osoro.
“We were not involved in the recent female genital mutilation campaign. We only heard about it in the media, we need to be included in such functions so that we can be empowered too," she added.
They also warned elected county leaders that they should not assume they will be re-elected if their score cards in the area are zero.
