Mr Peter Maina an official from the parents association said the rate of girls dropping out of school is alarming and therefore a quick action is needed to curb the situation before it gets out of hand.

"The number of dropouts of school by girls in the county is alarming and the government must take action immediately before the situation ran out of hands. Those who have been impregnated while in school should go back to school to complete their education,” said Maina.

Maina was speaking in Nakuru town over the weekend in a meeting attended by more than 200 parents and teachers from the county.  Daniel Owiye from ministry of education advised parents to teach their girls good morals that will make the society move forward instead of forcing their girls to get married at a tender age.

"I want to urge the government to arrest all those who have involved in undermining the girl child’s education as a way of fighting the vice. Parents   should teach their children good morals on how to become good people in the society instead of telling them to get married," said Owiye.
