The union has told the party to hike their salaries by 500% if they want the teachers' support in next years’ General Election.

Speaking at St Elizabeth Catholic Church, Kapseret constituency in Uasin Gishu County, the unions’ secretary general, Wilson Sossion said that the government should pay up teachers before election period and if not, they can forget about their support.

“We will demand that our money be paid before the elections. If you don’t do it, we are not with you because we have been patient long enough. And we will not negotiate over that because you are either with us or not,” Sossion said.

The secretary general also said that teachers will have to have a seat down with the government and agree on hiring of more teachers.

Sossion bashed the Jubilee government of boasting about their achievements in the success it has achieved in the education sector yet there is nothing to show for it.
