Kisii University Security department has issued a warning over criminals who are purporting to be police officers but are out to commit crimes against students.

The security department, has launched a man hunt expedition in bid to flash the imposters out.

Joachim Ondieki, Chief Security Officer ordered his officer to save the menace saying that before students leave for home, they want to patrol all night to bring back security normalcy in hostels and villages where students reside.

This comes after students raised alarm over the sudden increase of insecurity as semester come to an end.

 Two students were allegedly attacked yester night around Somoni hostel few meters from main campus compound.

Dennis Kimani, third year student lost his cell phone and the other valuables after he was attacked heading to his room from village at around 10.30 pm, he said that he found men who hid behind a tree and suddenly ambushed him and ordered to surrender all he was having.

“I was from my friend’s  room around Nyamage SDA church to pick some notes, on my way back I was ambushed by the young men who wore masks on their faces and ordered me to surrender my belongings,” he narrated the ordeal.

“I had to give everything I had for my safety because they had weapons even though I was not able to identify what they were carrying,” he added.

The same night, Geofrey Omondi, was attacked around Adams Hostel, Riverside area and was injured.

 Omondi said that it could have been students who are aware that they are going for long holidays and opt for such activities in soliciting cash on their way back home.
