Kenya Medical Training College principal of Manza campus, Samuel Kabara says the move by the Kenya Government to establish more medical training centers in the past four years will lead to adequate availability of trained personnel in the country in the next few years.
“The widespread cases of quacks in the health sector was largely influenced by inadequacies of personnel but now the expansion of training centers across the country will soon put an end to this menace,” said Dr Kabara.
He spoke during an open day organized at the Manza campus to sensitize the public and potential medical students about opportunities in medical health training.
Dr Kabara said lack of accurate information about requirements for qualifications into the various available fields of medical study was frustrating ambitions of scores of many youth in the country.
“Lack of information on course requirements is one hindrance we have to deal with in order to create more awareness to prospective students in this field,” he added.
He said KMTC Manza campus in conjunction with selected pharmaceutical companies occasionally organize free medical camps to locals as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
