Embakasi East independent MP aspirant Stephen Waruinge has been charged at a Nairobi court with issuing death threats against Jubilee Party hopeful Francis Mureithi.
Standing before Milimani chief magistrate Francis Andayi, Waruinge however pleaded not guilty.
Andayi had earlier rejected an application to have the plea-taking deferred until next week.
Waruinge claimed he wanted enough time to present his nomination papers before he could come to attend to the case.
He also claimed that he is being intimidated and forced by senior Jubilee officials to drop his bid.
The accused added that his arraignment in court was part of the larger scheme by the JP officials, including DP William Ruto, to lock him out of the race.
But the judge said that the allegations made by the accused that had no tangible evidence.
