To independents did however, stamp their authority though marginal in the elections despite being termed as 'spoilers' by the main political outfits in the country.
Below is the list of independent candidates who have conquered above all odds.
1. Independent candidate for Laikipia governor Nderitu Muriithi trounced Jubilee's Joshua Irungu.
2. Independent candidate Mohamed Kuti who contested the Isiolo governor seat dislodged incumbent Godana Doyo.
3. Jebii Kilimo defeated the Jubilee’s incumbent Kangongo Bowen in Marakwet East parliamentary race.
4. Bomachoge Borabu MP independent aspirant, Zaddock Ogut, floored JP’s incumbent Joel Onyancha.
5. Mohammed Ali in the Nyali parliamentary race defeated ODM’s, Saidi Abdalla.
6. Shakeel Shabir conquered Kisumu East on an independent ticket.
