Candidates who lost during the party primaries have launched a caucus dubbed the Kenya Independent Candidates Association (KICA).
The umbrella brings together aspirants who are seeking different political seats as independent candidates during the forthcoming general elections.
Led by Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful Peter Kenneth and Kiambu governor William Kabogo, the group vowed to root for President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection bid, despite losing out in the Jubilee Party nominations.
"Most of the leaders present will campaign for Uhuru but with the outcome of the primaries, we have decided to seek seats as independent candidates," Kabogo noted during the launch of KICA on Saturday.
"This will ensure that the decisions which the people of Kenya will make are respected and honoured," he added.
They expressed their displeasure in the manner the party primaries were conducted, citing massive electoral malpractices that locked them out.
However, President Uhuru Kenyatta failed to attend the meeting, despite the group making an official invitation.
Instead, the Head of State went to Isiolo County, where he addressed political rallies.
