Kiambu gubernatorial hopeful Ferdinand Waititu’s running mate James Nyoro has criticised politicians running as independent candidates in Jubilee’s perceived strongholds.

Nyoro claims that nomination losers will create voter apathy if they run as independent candidates. He adds that they are out to spoil President Uhuru Kenyatta’s votes.

In an interview with the Standard, Nyoro stated that voters might fail to turn up on voting day because of the nomination losers who will be on the ballot as independent candidates.

Nyoro wants politicians who lost in the Jubilee Party nominations to accept the results and stop forcing themselves back to the people.

“Nomination losers now running as independent candidates should accept the wish voters made and stop forcing themselves to the ballot,” he said as quoted by the Standard.

Nyoro at the same time said that politicians who lost the nomination will not make a comeback saying they should stop wasting their resources.

A section of politicians who lost the nomination in both Jubilee and NASA have announced their candidature as independent candidates.

In Mt Kenya region, several aspirants who lost in the JP nominations have declared that they will be contesting as independent candidates.

Kiambu governor William Kabogo is among the losers who will be running as an independent candidate.

Kabogo was humiliated by his rival Ferdinand Waititu in the JP nomination. The independent candidates in Mt Kenya region are planning for a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss several issues.

The independent candidates are also expected to endorse Uhuru’s re-election bid.
