An Indian investor who arrived in Kisumu last evening was robbed of cash and other valuables in his hotel room within Milimani estate.

Ravi Sankar Yandapalli says he had planned to meet Kisumu Governor, Jack Ranguma at 9am over some investments in the city.

Sankar says he slept after midnight but when he woke up at 7am, he found his valuables missing and the window to his hotel room broken.

Speaking from his hotel room at Sovereign hotel, Sankar says he lost all his travel documents including his lap top and some amount of money totaling to  USD 1,200.

He is appealing for the return of his documents to facilitate his travel that included a visit to Uganda.

Sankar was in the company of a Ugandan MP for Soroti municipality Dr Captain George Mukula who slept in an adjacent room.

Victor Nyagaya, a consultant for the Mahati Infra Services Indian Limited that was to set the investment says Sankar planned to start a business worth Sh20 billion.

Nyagaya says the investment entailed transporting fuel from Kisumu to Kampala via Lake Victoria and putting up a ship building machine in both towns.

The suspect is believed to have scaled a perimeter wall from the residence of former Prime Minster Rail Odinga to the hotel.

Kisumu County CID Commander,  Moses Dindi led a team of detectives to the scene combing for evidence that can lead to the arrest of the suspect.
